    When you open the application it should auto-update if there is an update available. From time to time we release updates in a slightly different way and may require you to visit Mypcbackup.com/download and download and run a new installer file. Last Update: 02/20/2013

  • 38 How do I know if my files are backed up?

    From the main application window click on 'My Files' this will open up your account control panel in your default browser. You can then browse through all the folders and files you have backed up.

    If you wish to access your backed up files from a different computer the URL is https://my.Mypcbackup.com

    You will need to know your login details to access the account in browser, don't forget to logout if you are on a public computer. Last Update: 03/06/2014

  • 205 How do I transfer my license to a new computer?

    Once logged into the control panel http://my.Mypcbackup.com click 'MY DEVICES' on the left side bar. This will take you to a list of all your account's devices in a table. The far right column, labelled 'License' will display which devices are licensed with a tick and which are unlicensed with an 'Add' button.

    Clicking add will enable you to either transfer a license from another device or purchase a new one.

    License Assigning should be almost immediate, if it isn't simply click 'Settings' on your app and then click OK - this will force communication with the server and recognize the assigned license.

    You only need licenses for backup. The app can be installed on any number of your computers and you can still use the sync folder and restore files without a license.

    Mobile devices such as iPhones, iPads and Android Cell Phones do not require licenses in order to be backed up. Last Update: 02/13/2014

  • 55 Why does my bank statement show multiple charges for one purchase?

    The majority of support enquiries we receive about this issue is the result of the bank displaying the authorisation on the statement, authorisations are part of normal bank processing and are automatically resolved by your bank. Authorizations are removed as soon as the actual charge is applied however some banks can take a couple of days to resolve them.

    In most cases banks inform the customer about the authorisation with a visual hint, such as using 'pending' in the description. Authorizations ensure that there is enough money in your account before any funds are transferred.

  • 17 How do I know when new application updates are available?

    The Mypcbackup desktop software automatically detects updates, for the updates to take effect you just need to restart your computer.

    Also, on the control panel, http://my.Mypcbackup.com click on the MY DEVICES link in the left sidebar. Here you will see all of your account devices, if an app is out of date a warning triangle will be displayed.

    From time to time we hear this enquiry from our customers. The order form displays the equivilant monthly price then immediately displays the term it is paid over next to it. in the case of 4.95 the term of 2 years upfront is immediately next to it, thus making it 118.80.

    We try to make this as clear as possible and are trying to help our customers by offering a cheaper price for a longer commitment. We also understand that some customers are confused by this, we are of course happy to refund any users who feel they have been overcharged and will happily downgrade the account to monthly billing.

  • 15 Where can I find previous versions of my files?

    If you log into your control panel, http://my.Mypcbackup.com and click 'My Backups' you will either go to a file browser view of your backed up files or see a drop down of all the devices you have backed up.

    Once viewing the file you wish to access previous versions of, hover over the file name and click where the 'Versions' link appears.This will bring up a light-box containing all available versions of the file for you to download should you want to. Last Update: 02/13/2014

    Mypcbackup is the first company to offer Drag & Drop to an application for instant backup. Simply open your application by double clicking on the desktop icon and drag any file you wish onto the application, a window will then appear showing that the file is immediately backing up.

    Mypcbackup has also given users a second option for instant file backup; by right clicking on a file and using the Mypcbackup context menu to send to 'Instant Backup'.

  • 68 I cannot see my files that have been backed up on my online account. Why?

    Files and folders should show in exactly the same structure in the online file browser as they are on your computer.

    If files are missing this would mean they are yet to be backed up, it would be worth checking your backup settings to ensure no single setting is preventing the backup of some of your files.

    If you do not find anything in the application settings that could explain why files are not being backed up please email support@Mypcbackup.com explaining that you have checked settings and confirm the paths of data not uploaded. Last Update: 02/13/2014

    If your Firewall is blocking the Mypcbackup application you will need to allow the following hosts / ports:

  • 56 How do I backup my music from iTunes?

    It is likely your iTunes Music Library will be made up of .MP3 files and .AAC files. You will need to locate and select the files in the Mypcbackup app Manual Selection, below are the default file paths of where iTunes stores music files on your hard drive:

    Mac OS X: /Users/username/Music/iTunes/
    Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\
    Windows Vista: C:\Users\username\Music\iTunes\
    Windows 7: C:\Users\username\My Music\iTunes\

    If you find some of your music has not been backed up it would be worth going to the Album in iTunes and right clicking on a track and selecting 'Get Info' it will bring up a new window and under 'Summary' you will see the file path. You may find some of your music resides in odd locations on your computer, before going through every album it would be best to follow the process below...

    Locating and consolidating your media will make sure all of your content from iTunes is in the same location and is therefore organized and easier to ensure it is all backed up:

    1. Open iTunes:

    Choose File > Library > Organize Library

    2. Tick ‘Consolidate Files’ and finally click ‘OK’

    To copy all newly added files to Library:

    1. Still in iTunes, click (‘Edit’ for Windows) ‘Preferences’, followed by ‘Advanced’

    2. Tick ‘Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library’

    Consolidating will cause iTunes to copy all of your music files that appear in iTunes to one central location on your computer (the iTunes Media folder). The original files will now be duplicates which you will need to manually remove from their various locations if you don't want them to take up additional drive space.

    So once your music library is consolidated you can simply select the iTunes music folder in Mypcbackup Manual Selection and it will be backed up.

    Once you have backed up files technically they will remain backed up forever. We do not delete files after a certain time or have any input on the up-keep of your account, the only way files can be deleted is by yourself through the control panel. Last Update: 02/13/2014

  • 25 I deleted a file accidentally off of the control panel, help!

    Files and folders are deleted immediately if a delete is actioned via the control panel. Regrettably there is nothing that can be done to recover a deleted file or folder.

    However, we do offer an add-on service called Recycle Bin, with this add-on any files or folders that are deleted go into a recycle bin for 30 days before being permanently deleted. This means if a file or folder is deleted by accident, it can easily be restored from the recycle bin within 30 days of deletion. Last Update: 03/21/2014

    Once logged into the control panel http://my.Mypcbackup.com click on the device you wish to delete from the left side bar > then click on Settings > then click 'Delete This Device', a pop-up will ask you to confirm the delete, please note that deleting a device removes all its backups and files and frees up any space the device's backup took up.

    It can take up to 12 hours for this to take effect. However, in most instances it is almost immediate.

    If you are removing a device and its backup with the intention of starting over, make sure you uninstall and reinstall the application so that everything works smoothly. Last Update: 03/06/2014

    Once logged into the control panel http://my.Mypcbackup.com and viewing backed up files you will notice two display options in the top-right of the window. One option, list view, is the default view. However, there is also a thumbnail view - this will display thumbnails of image files - if you click on an image in this view you are taken to a gallery view of the image and can cycle through all the images in that folder.     Assuming your computer is turned on and the Mypcbackup app is running in the background you can start a backup remotely.
